Journey to Entrepreneurship at Wake
Written by Taylor Graustein & Casey Williams, #WakeEntrepreneurs
Before Michael became a part of the Wake Forest class of 2023, he and his dad decided to take a quick trip to campus for Entrepalooza, the marquee event of the year for the Center for Entrepreneurship. Experiencing Demo Day and the many activities around Entrepalooza is what solidified his decision in coming to Wake Forest to continue his own entrepreneurial endeavors.
“I was very impressed with how real & authentic the pitches [at Demo Day] were.”
Michael explained that his love for entrepreneurship started young. Inspired by Shark Tank, Michael began his entrepreneurial journey in his sophomore year of high school, the year he started myfuturecollege, a user-friendly database to help high school students easily identify colleges that meet their needs. He launched myfuturecollege during a summer entrepreneurship program at Georgetown University. In his college research, Michael came across the Wake Forest Center for Entrepreneurship & was inspired to fly to campus for Entrepalooza. The rest is history!
Michael is the first freshman to take ENT 384: Design Thinking, where he met his professor after class every day. During those meetings, Michael worked on building his website while seeking entrepreneurial opportunities. Michael looks forward to taking as many entrepreneurship classes as possible and eventually being a part of Startup Lab, Wake Forest’s startup accelerator.
Michael is just one of many first-year students looking forward to their time with Wake Forest’s Center for Entrepreneurship. Michael’s ambition is sure to make him a Wake Entrepreneur to look out for! We can’t wait to see where his entrepreneurial journey will take him.
