Assistant Professor of the Practice

Cassmer Ward is a Financial Executive and Business Leader with more than 20 years of experience helping companies improve their financial management and strategic direction. As a Consulting Partner at Nexagy®, he works with business owners to gain greater control of their finances and make informed, data-driven decisions.

Cassmer’s background includes Accounting, Management Leadership, and Management Information Systems. He has served as both Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer across companies of various sizes and industries. His work focuses on operational analysis, strategic development, and identifying the key metrics that define business performance. He has helped early-stage startups and established firms evaluate their financial health, develop strategic plans based on resource analysis, and align leadership and staff around shared goals. Cassmer has also worked with companies to improve their organizational structure and turn financial losses into sustained profitability.

In addition to his work with Nexagy®, Cassmer has been appointed Assistant Professor of the Practice in the Entrepreneurship Program at Wake Forest University, beginning in the fall 2026 semester, and serves as an adjunct instructor at the McColl School of Business at Queens University. He has developed and taught courses in entrepreneurship and managerial accounting, often creating new ways to present financial concepts to non-financial audiences. He is the author of How Much Does It Cost to Make a Donut?, a guide designed to make business finance more understandable for entrepreneurs.
