The Chambers Family Fund for Entrepreneurship is designed to provide a source of funding for projects and courses that encourage undergraduate and graduate students in entrepreneurial activities using the Internet or electronic commerce. Created in August of 2002 through a gift of endowment of $1,000,000 from the family of John Chambers, CEO of Cisco Systems, this award is given twice a year by a committee appointed by the Provost. The first award was presented in the Spring Semester of 2004. Typical awards range from $1,500 to $10,000.
The main purpose of this fund is to promote the advancement of entrepreneurial activities involving the Internet and other technological commerce. Projects that have received grants range from online businesses to web-supported programs and software, all of which are submitted by graduate or undergraduate students.
