Arts Entrepreneurship Summit March 26, and April 2, 2008 on the campus of Wake Forest University.In this series, innovative arts entrepreneurs will speak about their passion, their ventures and their art careers in a convivial environment of exchange open to the public. The objective of this forum is to showcase the dynamic, contemporary face of arts entrepreneurship today and to assert the essential role creativity and innovation plays in shaping the future. Cook It UP! was launched as a campus and community forum on creativity in 2006 as an Office of Entrepreneurship and Liberal Arts initiative. The objective is to stimulate dialog and launch innovative collaborations between artists, scholars and researchers from across disciplines in an uncommon, creative environment. The COOK IT UP! forum has reached over 400 participants and attendees over the course of several nights of 'curious pleasure.' Dr. Easterly will be speaking on: Thursday, February 28, 2008 4:30 p.m. in Carswell 111 -- Annenberg Forum. He will address the issues in his book, The White Man's Burden: Why the West's Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good (Penguin, 2006). Dr. David Carroll to Speak on Friday, February 22nd"Nanotechnology: The Emerging Marketplace"Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship Lecture Series Dr. David Carroll will be speaking on campus on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 4 p.m. in 126 Winston Hall. The title of his talk is "Nanotechnology: the Emerging Marketplace" Dr. Carroll is the director of Wake Forest University's Center for Nanotechnology and Molecular Materials. Dr. Carroll's research has applications from increasing the efficiency of flexible solar cells to producing the next generation of light emitting diodes to biomedical nanotechnology. Professor Carroll's research has resulted in two Triad start-ups -- PlexiLight and FiberCell. |
