Overview
Created in August of 2002 through a gift of endowment of $1,000,000 from the family of John Chambers, CEO of Cisco Systems, this award is given twice a year by a committee appointed by the Provost. The first award was presented in the Spring Semester in 2004. Typical awards range from $1,500 to $10,000.
The main purpose of this fund is to promote the advancement of entrepreneural activities involving the Internet and other technological commerce. Projects that have recieved grants range from online businesses to web-supported programs and software, all of which are submitted by graduate or undergraduate students. Faculty may also apply for the grant, and many of the departments on the Wake Forest Campus have benefitted through this fund. It has provided opportunities for advancement in many areas of study.
